National Health Commission (NHC) of China and the Ministry of Health (MoH) of Myanmar organized the 6th Workshop on Malaria Elimination in China-Myanmar Border on 15-16 June 2022. Officers from Department of Public Health at MoH of Myanmar, Disease Control Bureau at NHC of China, Disease Control Bureau at Yunnan Health Commission, and Chinese Embassy in Myanmar attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. The experts from technical supporting institutes also attended.

Since April this year, with the coordination of Ethiopian Ambassador to China, Mr. Teshome Toga Chanaka, the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, China CDC (Chinese Center for Tropical Diseases Research) (NIPD) has established initial contact with Wolaita Sodo University (WSU) in Ethiopia. Thanks to the active efforts of multiple parties, the first China-Ethiopia Virtual Symposium on Cooperation on Research of Tropical Diseases was held on June 16, 2022, which about 30 participants attended. His Excellency Teshome Togachana, Ethiopian Ambassador to China, Madam Wang Xiaoqi, Head of Office of International Cooperation at China CDC, and Mr. Lukas Dingato, Chief Executive Director of WSU attended the opening ceremony and delivered welcoming speeches. The National Institute of Parasitic Disease (NIPD), the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) (Chinese Center for Tropical Diseases Research), co-sponsored with the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) held the Sixth Virtual Symposium on the Surveillance-Response Systems Leading to Tropical Diseases Elimination (6th SRS) in Shanghai, on June 14-15,2022, which attracted more than 600 participants from 53 countries. This symposium was also held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of China CDC.

On the Sixth Symposium on Surveillance-Response Systems Leading to Tropical Disease Elimination held virtually between June 14 and 15, professor Xiao-Nong Zhou, the editor of the book titled by “Farewell to the God of Plague: Archives of Fighting Schistosomiasis in the Peoples Republic of China” introduced the book to participants. This book depicts the splendid history of schistosomiasis control campaign in China.

Accomplishment of Malaria Elimination in the People’s Republic of China”, edited by Marcel Tanner, Jian-Hai Yin, Xiao-Nong Zhou, was published as the volume 116 of Advances in Parasitology in June 15, 2022. This special volume was compiled to to congratulate China on malaria-free that certified by the World Health Organization on 30 June 2021. The book was meanwhile introduced to the Sixth Symposium on Surveillance-Response Systems Leading to Tropical Disease Elimination between June 14 and 15, 2022.

Dr. Khaled Muhammad Zayed, Lecturer at Medical Malacology Department, Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI), Cairo, Egypt., the former post-doctoral fellowship in the National Institute of Parasitic Disease (NIPD) at Chinese Center for Diseases Control and Prevention, was awarded the best oral session paper in The 34th Barcelona International Conference on “Chemical, Agriculture, Biological & Environmental Sciences” (BCABE-22) on May 25-27, 2022, in Barcelona of Spain.
