The startup meeting of the GHSP charged by NIPD was held in Shanghai, from Feb. 28th, 2014 to Mar. 1st, 2014

With the realizing of increased international responsibility, P. R. China provided a lot of international aid in low and middle-income countries in African and South Asian countries, especially in the field of health development in recent decades. However, a big gap is existed between the need and the existing capacity of Chinese governmental officials and professionals for international health aids. The overarching goal of the project is to strengthen the capacity of health development aid for Chinese government officials and professionals through establishment of a Centre of Excellence of Health Development Aid, in order to establish a strategic plan and evaluation schemes, set up a expert team in the field of research, strategic consultancy and assessment, and provide consulting services with a think tank, information dissemination and training in health development aid in PR China.

To achieve the aforementioned objectives, five activities were designed as 

  1. improving capacities of research and analysis,
  2. consulting services for international agencies,
  3. forming expert team on health development aid at global level,
  4. constructing training facility for public health aid, and
  5. evaluation.

All those activities and impacts of the proposed project will be monitored and evaluated strategically through whole process to ensure the quality of the outcome in the fields of capacity strengthened, information dissemination and performance of the project, through comparison with data from the baseline assessment.

It is expected that great outcomes will be achieved from the proposed project, including

  1. improved capacity in research and analysis of health development aid through case studies;
  2. enhanced capacity in information dissemination and training on health development aid;
  3. improved capacity in aid project consultancy with high impact on global health; and
  4. establish a platform for training in public health aid.
