On September 18, the National Technique Competition for Diagnosis of Parasitic Diseases in 2014 was held in Jinan, Shandong. The yearly event was hosted by the Bureau of Disease Prevention and Control of National Health and Family Planning and organized by NIPD, Health and Family Planning Commission of Shandong Province,Shandong Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Shandong Institute of Parasitic Diseases. A total of 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) with 124 contestants participated.The competition was composed of two parts, namely theoretical examination and skill assessment.

Division Director Yan Jun of the Bureau of Disease Prevention and Control in National Health and Family Planning, Deputy Director Zuo Yi of Health and Family Planning Commission of Shandong Province,Director Zhou Xiaonong of NIPD, Professor Yu Xinbing of Sun Yat-Sen University, Professor Wang Shiping of Central South University and other delegates and experts attended the closing ceremony. Thirty-six Individual Awards, 10 Team Awards, 2 Team Consolation Awards and 5 Outstanding Organization Awards were presented during the ceremony.

This year was the fifth consecutive successful competition since the first in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province in 2010.
