Dr. Mohamed Habib met by Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong in Egypt

In the afternoon of March 28th, 2016, Dr. Mohamed Habib, a post-doctor of Nitional Institute of Parasitic Diseases, China CDC, participated in the symposium held by Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST hereinafter) and Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the National Research Center in Cairo, Egypt. As one of three Egyptian delegations of “Talented Young Scientist Program” (TYSP hereinafter) of MOST, Dr. Mohamed Habib was met by Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong who is visiting Egypt. Vice Premier Liu made three suggestions to strengthen China-Egypt cooperation of technology and develop creativity. The first suggestion is that China-Egypt should intensify cultural and educational exchanges, build up more platforms, and open more channels. The second is that China-Egypt should reinforce connections of innovation and strategy, share experience and ideas in the aspects of policies and applications of effective research results in terms of science and technology, which will make policies more targeted and efficient in both countries. The last one is that China-Egypt should enhance platforms building and cooperation of science and technology, encourage close connections of research organizations, universities, and companies between two countries, and construct joint laboratories in several important fields to promote research level together, which benefit two nations in the information communication and sharing.

TYSP is one of important programs in the frame of China-Africa Science and Technology Partnership Program (CASTEP). China MOST funds and supports talented young scientists who must be under or at the age of 45 from partner countries to work in Chinese research institutes, universities, or enterprises. Supported by TYSP, China and recommended by Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mohamed Habib from Theodor Bilharz Research Institute, Egypt has been worked in the NIPD for one year. Supervised by Prof. Zhou Xiaonong and cooperated with various levels of Center for Diseases Control and Prevention, he learned the approximate scale thatBiomphalaria straminea covered in Guangdong Province and systematically described its morphology, anatomy, and molecular genetics. Meanwhile, he improved his capacities for scientific research and promoted Sino-Egyptian bilateral technological innovation and friendship.
