China-RBM Steering Meeting

  Steering Committee Meeting of Roll Back Malaria (RBM) was successfully held at our office on June 17, 2019. The meeting was co-chaired by Prof. Zhou Xiaonong, Director of National Institute of Parasitic Diseases Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Kamwi Richard of RBM, and Alex Ng, Deputy Director of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation China Office. There were 28 participants, including 5 Chinese guests and 12 foreign guests. The Chinese guests were mainly from the leaders of the China CDC and experts from the provincial CDCs. Foreign guests are mainly from the World Health Organization, the Roll Back Malaria Partnership (RBM), the Malaria Drugs Association, Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH), the Asia Pacific Malaria Leadership Alliance, the US Centers for Disease Control, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Global Fund.

  In the meeting, the participants further clarified the responsibilities and role of the China-RBM Steering Committee, explored the possibility of Chinas joint cooperation with RBM on China-Africa Malaria Control and formulated a strategic plan for 2019-2020. The content of the conference mainly includes introduction of the function and operation mechanism of China-RBM Steering Committee, sharing experience in China-Africa Cooperation on Malaria, exploring China-RBM cooperation on China-Africa Malaria Control, and formulating strategic plan for the next year of China- RBM Steering Committee.
