Officials and Experts from the Ministry of Health of the Five African Countries and the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention Visited the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases

  On the afternoon of December 10, 2018, seven officials and experts from the Ministry of Health of Sierra Leone, Zambia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Egypt and the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention visited the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Director Zhou Xiaonong, Deputy Director Xiao Ning and the heads of the Global Health Center, Drug Research Laboratory, Schistosomiasis Prevention and Control Department and related experts (including the postdoctoral fellow of Egypt) and the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention Global Health Center attended the forum. Deputy Director Xiao Ning presided over the meeting.
  First, Deputy Director Xiao Ning gave a welcome speech and expressed his heartfelt welcome to all foreign guests and each participant conducted a brief self-introduction orderly. By playing promotional videos and commentary, we introduced the general situation of our institute and the foreign cooperation projects. Then, Deputy Director Xiao Ning led the foreign guests to visit the Parasitic Disease Science Exhibition Center, Drug Research Laboratory, the Ministry of Health Key Laboratory of Parasitic Pathogens and Vector Biology. He introduced the progress of our drug development and application and scientific research on parasitic diseases, and explored the possibility of cooperation.

  Through seminars and on-site visits, China-Africa cooperation has been further deepened. What’s more, this activity established a good foundation for the follow-up of China- Africa cooperation in prevention and control of parasitic diseases in Africa.
