On March 22, 2017, Shanghai Science and Technology Awards Conference was held in Shanghai Exhibition Hall, a grand recognition was given to the researchers who made outstanding contributions to the science and technology innovation in Shanghai in 2016 and there were totally 265 scientific and technological achievements.

The Secretary of Municipal Party Committee, Mr.Han Zheng, Deputy Secretary of Municipal Committee, Mayor Mr.Yin Yong and other leaders awarded for the first prize of the natural science award and the science and technology progress award.

Dr. Zhou Xiaonong from NIPD who was responsible for the program "the construction and application of important parasite germplasm bank in China”won the first prize of the progress in science and technology of Shanghai in 2016. While the research and application platform of the foundation for the research and application of the important parasitic disease prevention and control based on functional genomics, which was presided over by Dr Hu Wei, was awarded the second prize of Shanghai science and Technology Progress Award in 2016.

In the project titled as “construction and application of important parasite germplasm bank in China” combined with 12 units in China, from 2004 to 2014, after 10 years efforts built the largest and the only parasite resources service platform.

The platform officially became the first level platform of national science and technology infrastructure in 2017, and was officially named as the "National parasite germplasm resource sharing service platform ".
