The Chinese team of China-UK-Tanzania Malaria Control Pilot Project held malaria control and prevention knowledge lectures in Tanzania
The Chinese team of China-UK-Tanzania Malaria Control Pilot Project, invited by Tanzania Overseas Chinese Association, to give the malaria control and prevention knowledge lectures in Zhonghua Yuan Restaurant, Dar es Salaam, on December 20th, 2015. The lectures aimed to strengthen the malaria control and prevention knowledge of overseas Chinese, and protect from the infecting with malaria, especially for severe falciparum malaria. Totally 50 people of Chinese-funded institutions, chamber of commerce and representative of Chinese medical team participated in the lecture.
The lecture was hosted by Mr. Qingmin Li, the secretary-general of Overseas Chinese Association. Drs. Weikang Jiang, Kangming Lin, Jun Feng and Xiangli Kong gave the lectures of “Introduction of malaria basic knowledge, vector and person protective interventions”, “Diagnosis and treatment of malaria”, “The analysis of malaria prevalence in global and China” and “Notice for people returned back in China”. The Chinese team presented with lots of pictures to make the overseas Chinese to know the epidemic of Tanzania, the personal protective interventions and precautions coming back to China, also the team response the questions in the discussion. The lecture was welcomed by the overseas Chinese and they learned a lot from the lecture.
The lecture has achieved three goals: firstly, to give the significance and goal of China-UK-Tanzania Malaria Control Pilot Project, this will expand the influence of the project and facilitate the project, secondly, to give the health education on the knowledge of malaria control and personal protective interventions, which will reduce the risk of malaria infection, thirdly, enhance the awareness of malaria prevention by overseas Chinese and local people, which decreased the imported malaria cases and reduce the resurgence risk in China.
