The meeting on the compilation of retrospective investigation on schistosomiasis was held in Heqing, Yunnan

To further improve the achievement of schistosomiasis control and guide the future implementation, the meeting on the compilation of retrospective investigation on schistosomiasis was held from 14 to 16 January, 2015 in Heqing, Yunnan. A total of 30 participants attended the meeting, including delegates from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention(China CDC), National Institute of Parasitic Diseases(NIPD), and provincial schistosomiasis institutions. Dr Li Shizhu, deputy director of the NIPD, emphasized the importance of epidemiological data in reflecting schistosomiasis pattern and programming.

Zhu Rong, associate professor introduced the progress of the compilation. Dr Hong Qingbiao, the editorial of the Chinese journal of schistosomiasis prevention and control, who is in charge of the editor of the compilation, indicated the challenges and problems. He called for the accurate data and standard text. Subsequently, the provincial experts verified on relative data. Except for several provinces, most data were re-confirmed.

During the meeting, all participants discussed and exchanged opinions on the first draft of action plan for schistosomiasis elimination (2015-2025), and the operational manual of national schistosomiasis surveillance, which helps further improvement.

Finally, the meeting was concluded by Dr Li Shizhu. He requested provinces to attach great importance to the compilation. He also reminded some provinces to speed up the data verification and report to NIPD as soon as possible so that the compilation could be published soon.
