Dynamic Monitoring of Medical Mollusc of Wild Population was carried out in Shanghai
More and more investigation about medical mollusc has focused on monitoring of Oncomelania hupensis in Shanghai in the last sixty years. The study of other snails including identification, distribution, population dynamic analysis and related parasites diversity has been neglected. Wild population dynamic monitoring of medical mollusc by NIPD was carried out in Shanghai, from Feb. 10 to 11, 2015. Sanxing town, Chongming county is a monitoring site according to the project plan. The result shows that few snails were survived in river, pond, and ditch due to the cold weather. Several specimens of Parafossarulus striatulus which was the host of Opisthorchis sinensis has been found in underwater silt. It indicates that a certain number of Parafossarulus snails could survive by drilling mud. This survey is the beginning of the series of investigation, and appropriate monitoring will be held in every month from April, 2015.
