The China-UK-Tanzania Pilot Project on Malaria Control Communicate Project Progress with DFID office in Tanzania

In order to promote the cooperation of China-UK-Tanzania pilot project on malaria control, the project field team visited DFID office in Tanzania and exchanged the project progress on July 5th ,2016. The field team leader, Dr. Wang Duoquan (from National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, China CDC) introduced this project progress to Dr. LishaLala (health adviser in DFID office) including completing the baseline survey, the community mobilization and advocacy, the IEC materials pretest, the software development and pretest, the distributing of bed nets, focal screening and treatment, internal evaluation, key stakeholders meeting, and emphasized the goal of this project is to share Chinese experiences on malaria control exploring the appropriate malaria control approaches and then scaled up to other areas of African countries including Tanzania to accelerate the malaria control and elimination progress in Africa. Dr. Prosper Chaki ( the project leader from Ifakara Health Institute) introduced the recent activity plan including the community mobilization and advocacy to improve the local bednet use, anopheles’ larvae control, operation of information system, experts field technological guidance and experiences sharing, mid-term survey and evaluation, etc. and the DFID office will be invited to participate every activities. Dr. LishaLala said the former Director (Aler Stair) in DFID office was very interested in this project but now already moved to Swiss, however, she will also try best to participate the project activities and share some experiences in the future. The project team communication with DFID office has enhanced their mutual understanding as well as contributed to build the local working net which will strengthen the future cooperation between China and Britain.
